and the beat goes on

Well with one thing and another that I won’t go on about here it’s been quite a couple of weeks in SL, rollarcoaster doesn’t begin to describe it, more like a rollarcoaster that I caused to fall off the rails for a while plummeting headlong towards the ground threatening doom for a number of people. However,  it seems like things are getting back on track now and we’re slowing to a more desirable place, those who were injured in the fall are starting to heal and hopefully all will be well again soon. To those involved, I can only continue to apologise for being so stupid.

Amongst the madness, the beat goes on and things have been moving along at quite a pace.

Biggest news for me, I have resigned as Head Host at Club Elysium, decided to focus entirely on my own business. I’ll still be spending a lot of time there though no doubt as it is where my best friends hang out and I like helping out.

Miz Slocombe’s Plaza is filling up nicely with just two stores left to occupy. Am very excited to have Ink & Kinks as well as Dark Arya & Smart Tarts at my Plaza. The park has had a slight rebuild after a freakish SL Earhtquake (read database corruption) moved the land height on the parcel of land the Plaza sits on burying much of it and leaving me with quite a bit of terraforming to do to get it back to where it was.

Also, Miz Slocombe Designs continues to grow. The main store at the plaza has been extended to allow more room for new products, the Prefab demo area has also been extended to allow 2 areas, one for houses and one for smaller structures such as my new Hero Gazebos.  We now have 7 other stores accross the grid spreading the word. Of course the product range continues to grow with many more items to come. Ooh we have a new logo too .. must change the banner at the top of this blog to match at some point

Focus at the moment is on completing The Hero Range of buildings / gazebos & furniture.

Currently we have:

The Hero Mansion

The Hero Teahouse

The Hero Gazebo (available in Light & Dark Cherry)

The Hero Walled Gazebo (available in Light & Dark Cherry)

The Hero Seated Gazebo (available in Light & Dark Cherry)

The Hero Hottub

The Hero Dining Set

coming soon…

The Hero Bed

The Hero Bedstand

The Hero Wardrobe

The Hero Home

The Hero Beachhouse

The Hero lighting collection.

and anything else that pops into my head :D

So plenty done, plenty more to be done … YAY for Second Life, it can make you do the silliest things sometimes and if you get too involved you can make a total fool of yourself and sadly you can hurt people in the process,  but also it can show you that you are capable of so many things which you had no idea about and for that I will always be greatful. Secondlife for me has brought back out that little girl who loved to build things with lego. I don’t consider myself an artist, I can’t draw or paint for love nor money but give me some lego (or in Secondlife I guess the equivilent would be prims) and I love putting them together and seeing whatI come up with.

Woot, it’s been a labour of love. I’ve learned SO much making this and I’m so pleased with the results.

Miz Slocombe is VERY VERY proud to present the first piece of what will be the Hero Collection, the Hero Mansion is now available for sale.

You can view the mansion by going up to the Prefab Demo area from Miz Slocombe’s Store and can purchase the house from the vendor there or from the Apez vendor on the ground.  Please note, the house, like all of my prefabs is NO TRANSFER. If you wish to buy this or any build from Miz Slocombe please use the gift option on the Vendor in the Demo Area OR you can buy as a gift from my page on SLExchange.

Miz Slocombe Plaza

Miz Slocombe’s Main Store & Shopping Plaza is now OPEN. I’m really pleased with this. I needed to buy a large plot to have a better sized area for my Prefab Demos and then I decided to have that up in the sky and have my main store on the ground and set up a lovely little Market Square style shopping plaza where I can rent out space and also make an attractive environment.

I’ve already created a little mini park on one side and over time I hope to be able to buy more of the surrounding land and continue to make an attractive public area in SL. I enjoyed landscaping my home land soo much it was nice to spend some time doing it again.

My Oriental Style Mansion inspired by Liquid Tuxing, my SL Bestest Friend, has a name, which will actually be the name of the Range of builds that will follow in the same theme. It will be called “Hero”, a little joke with LT and myself as he tends to ome to my rescue rather a lot so I call him my Hero.

I’ve almost finished the mansion and hope to have it available for sale by the end of the week. I’ve changed the textures so it looks very different to the pic in the previous post. I love it though. I haven’t been able to spend much time on it lately with one thing and another, not least has been putting together the plaza.

We’ve also been spending time putting together the new location for Club Elysium .. and it’s beautiful. On a beach, MUCH less lag, a smaller building and a totally different look but I believe when we move there only AMAZING things can happen as this place stands apart from any other club I’ve seen. When it’s done I’ll get around to completing the page about the club with more info.

All this, spending more time hosting for one reason or another and the Easter hols have drawn me away from building but I intend to fix that. I seemed to have a sudden spurt in sales of my skyboxes at the end of the last week which was a pleasent surprise. Still not sold loads but they do seem to be going. It’s so nice to have verification that I’m building things people like.

Speaking of LT.. which I was earlier … see .. up there… he’s just put his first builds up for sale. YAY, he’s a super talented furniture builder and has put together some really beautiful pieces. He’s opened up a store at the Plaza, so pop by and take a look at the “Dark Arya” store.  “Dark Arya” is actually owned by the very beautiful and talented Sophia Leidesdorff and LT’s work is being marketted under that name as “The Liquid Collection”.  The store at the plaza will primarily be for Liquid’s work but some of Sophia’s artwork will also be available. You can read more about Sophia and her work at her blog here.

What else has been happenening .. oh yes… I had my photos done by the fabulous Dove Swanson .. click here to see the results, I love them.

I’m so excited

After building my first few skyhouses and starting to sell them I am in the mid stages of creating by far my most ambitious build to date. Not a skyhouse, a rather large 40mx40m two story Japanese Mansion, complete with entrance gates leading into a courtyard which is enveloped by the main building. I LOVE it, and really want this to be a very special build so am spending just a bit extra on it making sure that it has all the bells & whistles I can add. This build was inspired by my SL best friend LT who after seeing my meditation room in my house on the Beach got so phenomenally excited, nay practically giddy,  by the oriental style decor that he instantly insisted I take him shopping and help him decorate his house, then dragged me round the SL world shopping for new oriental style furniture for his home. His passion for all things oriental got me thinking and I couldn’t help but be influenced by some of the amazing designs I saw while we were shopping. So I’ve forgiven him for the griefing attack I had to endure while shopping with him :D  LT saw the build for the first time on Saturday and seemed impressed, he even suggested perhaps I could create a series of builds of different sizes along the same theme which I must say has also got me rather excited, but I think this will always the centrepiece and I want it to be perfect so as excited as I am … I think it’s going to be a little while yet before I release it for sale.  The cool thing is this is the first build where I’ve wanted to add things such as a hot tub and a working fireplace so I have to learn how to do those first. Must seek out some classes… oh yes did I mention I live right nextdoor to the TUI University .. must make use of that :D  Will update when I have something to update with but just had to write something about this cos I’m very very excited about it.

Now I’ve decided to add a blog to my list of things to keep up with in SL. Is this just another excuse to spend my RL working time thinking about Secondlife? Probably… but hey, I Angel Slocombe actually have quite a fun and interesting time in Second Life so why not share it with the world and at the same time promote my in world business.

Firstly, if you’re reading this and you’ve no idea what Second Life is I highly recommend you go to http://www.secondlife.com and sign up right now… then you too can become addicted like me and I won’t seem to sad to you :D

For those who are already under the thrall of the Linden Gods, I am Angel Slocombe, I am Neko, I am a house & skyhouse builder, I am Head Hostess at Club Elysium, I also do some photography in SL as well as dabble in all kinds of other bits and pieces.  Am I addicted? Too right I am, I spend waay more time in SL than RL and why shouldn’t I? In SL I get to do what I want, when I want with who I want without the cares and worries of the RL to slow me down.

I came to SL with the intention of using it as a way to interact more closely with my RL boyfriend of over 3 years, he logs on a as Monty Beery and in RL we live over 200 miles apart and only get to see eachother every 2 or 3 weekends and holidays. I thought this might be a fun way to feel like we’re together even though we’re not. However I got way more into it than he has, each to their own, and although he pops by to spend some time with me at our beautiful beach home once in a while I generally have my own life in SL. He’s still my sweetie though.

So here I am, almost 4 months into Second Life, seems like forever,  I’ve learned so many things,  and learned I have much more to learn too,  I’ve done so many things I could / would never do in real life, I’ve made some wonderful friends and rediscovered passions and talents I’d forgotton I ever had. This blog will be about all of that and any other bits and pieces I feel the need to vent about.
